If you’re preparing for TEF Canada, you already know the examiner is not impressed by random fancy words. They’re looking for structured, repeat-use phrases that make you sound clear, confident, and exam-ready.
After working with so many students, I’ve noticed the same expressions keep showing up in speaking tasks. If you know them well and use them naturally, you instantly stand out.
Here’s the list you can’t afford to skip:
- À mon avis…
- Je pense que / Je trouve que…
- Selon moi…
- Il est vrai que… mais…
- D’un côté… de l’autre côté…
- Par contre…
- En revanche…
- En effet…
- C’est pourquoi…
- En conclusion…
- Il me semble que…
- Je suis d’accord avec…
- Je ne suis pas d’accord…
- Il faudrait que…
- On devrait…
- Si j’étais à votre place…
- À cause de / Grâce à…
- Aujourd’hui, on constate que…
- Il est important de noter que…
- Pour résumer…
These 20 phrases are everywhere in TEF speaking. Task 1, Task 2, you’ll use them ALL THE TIME. Don’t just memorize, practice them until they roll off your tongue.
At LingoRelic Language Academy, we train students to not only learn these expressions but also apply them in real speaking simulations. That’s the difference between “knowing French” and actually scoring CLB 7+ in the exam.
