Preparing for DELF A1? One of the first things you’ll need to do in the writing module is fill out a simple form: like a hotel room booking, library registration, school form, or a basic profile. This task carries 10 marks.
Sounds easy, right? But trust me, a lot of people lose marks here just because of some careless mistakes as they rush or miss small details.
Let’s fix that today!
What’s This Task About?
In the production écrite section of the DELF A1 exam, there’s usually a short form to complete. You’ll need to fill in basic personal information like name (first name and surname), age, nationality, address, hobbies, phone number, email ID etc.
This is the easiest task in the whole exam, but to maximize your score, it is important to follow instructions and write clearly.

Don’t Make These Mistakes!
Here’s where most candidates mess up in this task:
- Wrong date format → French style is day/month/year → 12/05/2000, not 05/12/2000
- Missing accents → francais ❌ → français ✅
- Gender mismatch → étudiant (male) vs étudiante (female)
- All lowercase names → Always capitalize names! Write Marie, not marie
- Adding too much → Keep answers short and to the point. If they ask for profession, just write professeur, not a full sentence like “Je suis professeur”.
Quick Tips to Get Full Marks
- Practice filling out multiple forms like this before the exam
- Learn common French words for countries, jobs, hobbies, etc.
- Write neatly if it’s handwritten, preferably in block letters (uppercase)
- Use accents wherever needed
- Keep it simple. You’re not writing an essay here, just facts!
